In accordance with Marpol(Marine Pollution) 73/78, ports are obliged to ensure port facilities for the reception of residues of oil and noxious liquid substances and of garbage, adequate to meet the needs of ships, using them, without causing undue delay to these ships.
For compliance with these regulations the Dubai and Port Regulators have designated a number of companies which are entitled to collect or receive and treat hazardous and non-hazardous solid and liquid waste from vessels. Collection of the waste will be undertaken by various means dependant on the waste type.

All vessels visiting Jebel Ali are supplied with a 6 cbm skip for the disposal of general non-hazardous waste. This bin is supplied as part of the port tariff and is a condition for entering the port. (Refer to Miscellaneous section in Port Tariff)
Additional bins can be provided for general and hazardous wastes at the vessel or agent request and charges will be added to the final invoice. Ships that are found to have disposed off wastes incorrectly will receive an additional charge dependent upon charges from Dubai Authorities and may include a fine. These will be forwarded to the agent for payment.
